Dr. Pennock was born in Southern California and grew up in Idaho. He attended medical school at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. After completing his medical degree in 1987, Dr. Pennock moved to Tucson where he completed a three-year residency and a Chief Resident year in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He then completed a three-year fellowship in cardiovascular disease. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography.
After completing his postgraduate education, Dr. Pennock remained in an academic setting for four years. During that time, he was the director of the echocardiography laboratory at the Southern Arizona VA Medical Center and was actively involved in medical research. Dr. Pennock has published numerous articles in major peer-reviewed medical journals and has participated in many clinical research projects. In addition, he holds the patent on a drug currently being tested for the treatment of heart failure.
Dr. Pennock entered private practice in 1998 and is a founding partner of The Heart Center of Southern Arizona. In addition to a busy office and hospital practice, he serves on several healthcare committees. Dr. Pennock is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Echocardiography.
